Software Architect (f/m/d) - Device Connectivity

In order to generate more benefit for our customers in connection with our medical products, we develop a variety of digital services and applications in the context of the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) and the B. Braun Health Cloud. For the conceptual design of the software architecture and development of cloud-based applications in the context of the networking of our medical devices, we are looking for a Software Architect (f/m/d) - Device Connectivity for Research & Development - OR Technology of the Aesculap division at the Tuttlingen site.

The filling of the position is in principle also possible in job sharing.

Duties and responsibilities

  • You create and document the software architecture of active medical devices focusing on connectivity
  • You will be responsible for the design of the software components and their interaction and interoperability in complex and distributed systems
  • You derive software specifications from the system requirements, define work packages and create test specifications
  • You perform risk analyses and define functional safety and cybersecurity requirements
  • You participate in all discussions related to software development
  • You work very closely with developers (f/m/d), guide them in implementing state of the art concepts and implement software components yourself
  • You will perform code and document reviews, release documentation and support the continuous improvement of the software development process to ensure the quality of implementation and documentation
  • You will work closely with the Head of Software Development (f/m/d) and the System Architect (f/m/d) - Device Connectivity as well as contacts from the CDO and CIO organizations
  • You will define the release planning for the continuous improvement of software components during their lifecycle

Professional competencies

  • You have a degree in computer science, mathematics, electrical engineering or several years of professional experience in activities relevant to the job offered
  • You have several years of experience in software architecture (design methodology, software modeling, object-oriented analysis, and design) with consideration of security (experience with Docker and Microsoft Azure is an advantage)
  • You have good knowledge of software development and the complete software lifecycle (specification, implementation, test, deployment, maintenance) in a regulated environment, preferably for medical devices
  • You preferably have knowledge regarding IEC 62304, IEC 60601 and IEC 81001 families or are willing to intensively familiarize yourself with these and other relevant standards
  • You have knowledge of UML and experience with relevant development tools (modeling, requirement & test engineering, software project management, source code management)
  • You preferably have experience with relevant communication standards for medical devices (e.g. HL-7 / FHIR, DICOM, IEC 11073 SDC)
  • You are business fluent in written and spoken English and have ideally a good command of German
